Summer of '81, I treated myself to a Gotcha hoodie from Huntington Surf and Sport, when it was further north on PCH than it is now. They had the goods and it was close to the best burger experience on planet earth, Wimpi's. Simply put, the drive-thru experience took half the day but when you pulled up to the window and they handed you your burger, fries, and "Da Kine" banana shake, all your impatience melted away. Anyone reading this that remembers this iconic place is nodding with agreement.

Back to my hoodie. It was grey and Gotcha must have had that legend Shawn Stüssy create some designs for them since his name was on the sweatshirt as well. It had a triangle, square, and circle on the chest. That is it. It said "Be Simple, Gotcha Utility" below the shapes and I thought it was the coolest thing around.

That simplicity notion always stuck with me through thick and thin and at 59 years old (birthday today), it could be said that this mantra runs deep with Tellason. Classic clothing is just that - classic. Stay away from shiny fashionable objects jetting past you. Make stuff to last and that if you see a pic of yourself 20 years from now, you won't wince at what you decided to wear that day.
