I cannot think of anyone cooler than Bruce Lee. My pal, Dan Zorilla, and I would try to replicate his cool with every one inch punch, every quick pebble grab out of another's hand or the swirly whip action he mastered with the nunchucks.
We had our own version, since there weren't many nunchuck shops around in S. Ca. back in 1976. So, we removed the wooden dowel in Dan's closet that held all the hangers, cut two equal pieces and drilled a hole in each at the end to link them together. We were not sure what would work for a link until Dan realized that a pair of his mother's nylons would be perfect. He was right. The nunchucks were equally quick and strong, just like Bruce.
Dan worked hard and became much better at this than I did, but once again, it was the process of making things that is king here. Just as we got these things flying, complete with the proper vocal "whaaaa" that goes with it, Dan's mom showed up and quickly realized what was holding those two wooden dowel pieces together. Things did not end well for Dan. I believe he was set to pull weeds afterschool for about a month straight.
Here's my point: our bony elbows took a beating as we trained to reach the top of nunchuck mountain and short of wearing elbow pads, a soft flannel shirt would have been useful to some degree. It just so happens, we have a new flannel shirt right out of the box and want to tee this up as our "Item of the Week". It is cut in our Clampdown body style and we would consider this to be a middle weight in the world of flannel shirts.
Enjoy ya'll and thanks for listening,
