Jean Jacket made from our exclusive 12.5 oz Cone Mills White Oak Selvage Denim (sanforized). Two exterior side pockets, two chest pockets and two interior pockets. Made in San Francisco, Calif. USA
This jacket of ours ain't nothing new. Levis claims to be the first to make it back around 1880 and we tend to believe them since, well, they brought the 5 pocket jean to life some time before that. Since then, it has become an iconic item in the denim lexicon. One that matches the attachment a person has for their favorite pair of jeans.
I remember "misplacing" mine a few years ago. When I realized it was not in my car or my closet, I sort of panicked and got in my car to retrace my steps around town (and county) looking for it like a lost dog. 50 or so miles later, no jacket. It was as if someone cut off my pinky. Not the worst thing that could happen. Handling a fork would be the same. Waving to someone would sort of be the same. If it was a new jacket that I lost, far less pain. The fact is that my jacket was really broken in and when I had it on, I always thought how shitty it would be if it were ever lost or stolen. Fast forward a few weeks, my wife was getting things organized in our room, which meant putting away a fairly large stack of clothes. Well looky there! My jacket on the bottom of that stack laying there like the guy on the bottom of a dog pile that just unpiled...
Back to our jacket- Our 12.5 oz Selvedge Jean Jacket gobbled up the very last of our Cone Mills White Oak denim. We added side pockets which also double as interior pockets and cut it about an inch longer in length compared to some you may find in a vintage shop so when you reach down to pick up the pen you dropped while you were writing your mom a birthday card, your jacket won't creep up half way up your back.
I can check all the boxes on this jacket: outside slash pockets that are properly positioned; two inside packets; perfect fit; top quality construction throughout; White Oak Cone Mills selvedge denim. And at a price less than many mass-produced jackets.
I will say that the fit is snug. I normally wear a Large including Tellason's Coverall jacket, but had to go to an XL in this one as the L "fit" but was a bit tight. Exchanged it for an XL that fits perfectly. Nice to find a jacket where the outside pockets are situated low enough to actually be useful. Good job Tony and Pete!
For over forty years i have been wearing jeans jackets but this one is the best of all. I am happy with and proud of my tellason
Just perfect. The weight of the denim will promote a very individualized fit as the jacket gets broken in with more and more wearing. The proportions are all just right.
First let me say I love Tellason. Every piece I own is amazing. Having worn the 16.5 oz blanket lined Jean jacket for two winters now, I needed the 12.5 oz for spring and summer. I’m happy to have gotten one of the last XL’s in Cone Denim. I wear a XXL in the blanket lined for more room for a wool shirt under (extra warmth). Highly recommend any of their line - unbelievably well made. Tony has been beyond helpful and has answered all of my emails in a timely manner. Fan for life.
People can’t stop telling me how much they like it.
I haven’t taken it off since I bought it. Love the way it looks and feels.
The only problem is now I need better jeans and boots to go with it
Great fit. Classic look. I can feel the quality every time I put it on
This is my second jacket from Tellason. I also have the Black Japanese Selvedge Denim Jean Jacket. That jacket became my favorite overnight and a year later has led to me selling other jackets because they no longer get wear time. I decided I do need to wear more than one denim jacket so the 12.5 ounce Cone Mills Jean Jacket seemed to be the perfect complement to the Black. This has proven to be so true and now more jackets are being sold because when it comes to denim jackets, I will now only wear Tellason. There is simply no match for the fit, finish and premium construction that goes into a Tellason. Add to that the exceptional customer experience and you have what I believe to be the best denim jacket money can buy.
This jacket is an expression of high craft. It is exquisitely made of very nice US-made Cone selvage (I have the 12.5 oz. version). Inside and out, it reeks of almost obsessive care by the people involved in its design and construction.
But, for me, the key point is fit. On my 155 pound/ size 40 suit body, the fit seems as if the jacket were custom made. Not too loose, not too tight, with a perfect sleeve length. (Note, here, that I have a 32 inch sleeve length -- the tall and lanky may have an issue with the sleeves being too short.)
I also appreciate the subtle understatement of this interpretation of the classic trucker design. Nothing unnecessary is added -- and there is a very welcome absence of external logos. If a jean jacket can be called elegant, this one's it.
Best jeans jacket I have ever owned
