I already owned a Clampdown and have been eyeing the Topper for a while, so I couldn’t pass it up on the Item Of The Week deal. Are they similar? Yes, but the devil is in the details. At the heart of both is the best chambray shirts I’ve ever owned. The fit, the construction, the fabric that only gets softer as you wear it…they’re perfection. There’s a lot of great US made and Japanese made chambray shirts and I’ve tried most of them. Trust me, Tellason’s are the best I’ve found. They overlook no detail and they’re doing it right.
Excellent shirt. I’m a slim 6’3” and the size large fits me perfect.
Being a chambray shirt, it uses white weft threads, giving it a slightly lighter appearance than in photos, more like what you see in the video. The fabric is sturdy, and like other Tellason products, the stitching is excellent. The cat's eye buttons are white, which likely complements the thread color used for the stitching. Imagining whether the thread color or button color was decided first is quite enjoyable. The white stitches and buttons create a light and refreshing image, and they add a nice accent. The pocket shape is distinctively Tellason, and the Western-style stitching on the upper back and shoulder area enhances the overall look. I am 6 feet tall, wear pants with a 34-inch waist, and have a 43-inch chest, usually wearing size L. This time too, size L fits perfectly—not too tight, not too loose, just like in the video. It's a long review, but in short, it's flawless!
Had a buddy that was admiring some of my new Tellason gear- so I bought him this shirt for a birthday gift. I think he was very pleased. It’s a great looking shirt and seemed to be of the quality you find in all Tellason products. Thanks guys! I’m racking up those frequent flyer points! Ha!
I bought this as a follow up shirt after getting the denim topper shirt and loving it. A very well crafted shirt that is slightly lighter weight than the denim shirt, great during the spring/summer. I can’t wait to see how it ages over time.
The material and the cut are great. Usually I have issues with the arms’ length and neck, but this shirt is a very nice fit. Also super nice to have a few French words in Pete’s note (he did his homework checking if I’m from the French speaking part of Switzerland!). Great experience buying from TELLASON!!!
This is my favorite shirt. I can't say enough about it. The fit, the materials, the hint of a western look. It's all amazing. I'm a L in most brands but I do an XL in Tellason shirts. It's worth the money. You will not regret buying this shirt.
The topper chambray I ordered in a size medium was just too fitted and Tony immediately responded to my email with a prepaid return label. Tony was also nice enough to let me exchange the topper for a clampdown chambray in the next size up. These guys clearly aim to please and the quality of the Japanese chambray material they use in the shirt was exceptional. I can’t wait to get my exchange in a size large. I am 5’9” 175 lbs with a 40” chest and an athletic build. If you are around my size and on the fence I would size up to a large.
