My first skate ramp was not pretty. I had a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, a waist high, brick pony wall separating our house from our neighbor's, and that was about it. There were two challenges: supporting the left side of the ramp due to the angle to the sidewalk, and work out the transition from sidewalk to the ramp. I engaged my pogo stick for that left corner and "borrowed" a small sheet of paneling from a neighbor for the transition. Fifth-grade Pete worked with the materials he had and made the most of it. I weighed about 75 lbs. so as I went high to grind at the top of the ramp, the pogo stick dipped a bit but essentially took care of that left side.
Today, I still take an occasional spill and consider myself a "good faller," all things said. That ramp taught me to roll out of a fall and to not brace my fall by putting my hands out front during impact. Multiple friends broke their wrists back then and seeing those mangled wrist bones was enough motivation to ensure I landed with my forearms out instead of my wrists.
Our "Item of the Week" is our denim Marine Overshirt. It has elbow patches, which look good and may serve you well during your next header. These are oversized by one full size so think about how you want to wear this: either as a shirt or as a layering piece in your closet. The double chest pockets are a nice touch as well so enjoy, with a 20% discount, and thanks 1000 for listening!
