If someone asked if there were a few things you regretted doing when you were a kid, I bet all of us would be quick with a few stories. An early regret of mine was causing some property damage to an apartment building next to my friend, Gary Leeper's house. Gary had this big backyard that had weeds as tall as we were, which meant we could hide away as we made life difficult for one of his sisters, or in this case, a neighboring apartment complex.
We were really into building Revell battleships and aircrafts from WW2 and would take our time painting them with custom stripes or whatever, using Testor paint 1/4oz. glass jars. We had a ton of these little jars and it seemed that the moment the paint dried, we would take the models in the backyard and shoot them up with a BB gun. Unfortunately, there were extra jars laying around and many of them were thrown (by us) right at the side of this apartment complex. It made for a spectacular small spatter but Jackson Pollock had this already covered. What we should have done was resist the temptation and not throw fast balls with the jars. I regret doing this and am sorry for the mess.
This was the era for me where old military films and model building ruled my free time, along with all the early skateboarding vibes of the 1970's. So, anytime we offer up a military style that feels like you found it from an old salty dude at a flea market, now you know.
