Ten years ago, We had a few fits in the stable with ambition to have a few more, in due time. We form our opinions, we get some feedback from people who know denim and are not afraid to share their viewpoints, and we pull the trigger when the time is right and head over to Pam's place to get a pattern started.
I was in Boston then, participating in an open to to the public event put on by Boston's own, Ball and Buck store. The venue was an incredible old brick warehouse, which basically describes a lot of that old city. Anyway, I was there to sell some pants. One dude stepped up to my fold out table full of jeans and spoke about what he wanted in a jean. Now, we are in "hockey country" so it seemed like every man around spoke about their love for hockey and had the legs and bunz to prove their commitment to their sport. They were also in need to have a tapered leg on a fit that suited their burly thighs to show off their new leather Alden boot or whatever. I tried to get them into our Ankara straight leg fit but you can tell that they were bothered by the straight leg effect of extra fabric below the knee.
The event was over, I sold some jeans and thought how many more I could have sold if we had a jean like the Ankara but with a tapered finish at the bottom. That was enough of a message for Tony and I to get going on our newest fit back in 2011- The Sheffield- mid rise, straight tapered jean. See, we listen once in a while...
I just snagged a pair of these Sheffeild's in 14.75 oz. Kaihara denim the other day. The guys at Tellason really know what they're doing with the cut and construction of these jeans. There is nothing overly fancy about these jeans, but the attention to detail and craftsmanship on these are top notch. Really nice to see and American company so dedicated to their craft. I'm 5'10, 190 lbs and size 33 worked for me. They were stiff and starchy (as raw denim should be) out of the box. They were also just a tad tight in the waist. After 2 full days of wearing them, they've already loosened up a bit and are starting to conform to my body. I've never been able to pull off a skinny or slim fit given my athletic thighs and backside, but definitely appreciate the silhouette this slight taper provides. I own over a dozen pairs of raw denim from various makers and have to say I think these might take the prize for fit, construction and overall value proposition. Absolutely superb American-made jeans. I can't wait to see what these will look like in 5 to 10 years. Thanks Tellason!
I loved my first pair, so after putting on a little weight it was a no brainer to size up with a second. These are hands down the best quality, best value selvedge jeans you can get. They check all the boxes: perfect classic cut, great and ethical construction, cool proprietary fabric, no cut corners and no gimmicks, expensive but not bank-busting -- in this case, you really get what you pay for. My tellies are a staple.
Love, love. love these jeans. The perfect alternative to the tyranny of slim fit :D Clean lines, slimming look, but enough room for those who have athletic legs.
Hello. I am writing this review to give my honest take on the sheffield. These had been out of stock for a while when I first started looking at Tellason jeans. Based on the fit description I bought the Ankara. I am 6' and 190 lbs. and not skinny legs. Now that I finally got the sheffield, I am convinced these are the ones I should have gotten first! They are still real new and need to be broken in a bit more, but the tapered leg with the ample room in the thighs is what is comfortable for me.
The subject says it all, I will not wear a different brand of jeans for as long as I live. My first pair were ripped in a motorcycle accident, I ordered a new pair while recovering. Couldn’t wait to start breaking them in, and as soon as I was able to wear jeans again, Tellason was my go to. Thanks guys!
These are my first pair of raw selvedge jeans, and they're like my go-to 501 STFs but better. I like the heavier fabric; the stiff slick surfae; the deeper pockets; the cuff roll. Somehow I just feel better about myself when I have them on. Don't know what it is.
Great fit and finish for these jeans! More room for my athletic thighs and calf’s! All kidding aside these are quality jeans made by great people! Thank you.
Woua l aute t as vu la dégaine que tu te paye avec ce jeans c est d'la balle, j'vais faire des jalminces. C est exactement c'que j ai dit à Bob qu'était en train de massacrer le flipper.
Great fit and look, definitely built to last.
