The leather is full grain 12 month oak bark tanned (the original leather was 3 month veg tan), from J&FJ Baker in Devon, England, and oak bark leather is only available at a handful of tanneries around the world. The reason why so few tanneries work this way? It’s massively labour intensive and expensive, but it does produce a high quality leather, that’s super tough and hardwearing as the fibres are really tight. Most of the leather preparation process is still done by hand, including dying the hides and conditioning them with greases and oils. The tannery is 6 generation family owned and the craftsmen there are all time served and highly skilled. The leather may show some natural marking here and there, this is a characteristic of full grain leather. J&FJ Bakers oak bark leather is reputed to be one of the worlds' finest, and it will patina and age beautifully. Belt Sizing Info
