A note from Tony & Pete
Like any small company, we started with one fit, then two, then three. For a few years now, we have had a full deck with seven fits- most of them derivatives of something we had already made. The Elgin is of our slim tapered Ladbroke Grove fit throughout the leg but we lengthened the rise about 1.5 inches. If you have worn our Ladbroke Grove, this will feel exactly the same but will sit a bit higher at the waist.
We would love to claim all the design inspiration for everything we make but the Elgin was most definitely put into motion by the extremely stylish, Mr. Steve Kang, owner of BlackBlue in St. Paul, Minnesota. He had been selling our jeans for a while but leaned on us to take our best seller, the Ladbroke Grove, and give it a higher rise. It was an easy pattern adjustment and our first prototype came out just as we wanted it to be. If you have any concerns about the old ass crack getting loose, this may be the fit for you. For me, mid-rise fits are the way to go. Just wear them a bit low, creating some sag but not too low to show the world your bun hugger de jour.
The name- "The Elgin" was a local bar in Ladbroke Grove (London) where the lads of The Clash used to order an adult beverage or two. It is still there but it certainly looks 10 X more posh than what was happening in 1977.
My first Tellason jeans purchase were the Ladbroke Grove in 14.75 oz, which I love. The Elgin is the same fit except about 1.5" longer in the top block which is really useful for added roominess and bike errands. Love the fit and the heavier 16.5 weight.
I just got these today and the attention to detail and quality of the denim is amazing! The fit is just how I like my jeans- fitted, but still room to breath. I initially ordered the wrong size, but, after speaking with Pete, I was able to get the right size shipped in no time. Amazing product, amazing customer service. I won’t go anywhere else for denim and neither should you.
Been a fan of the John Graham Mellor cut for a dozen years but I gotta say that the Elgin is edging it out recently. The slightly higher rise and taper makes this a knock-out. As usual, Tellason's quality and attention to detail is unmatchable. The 16.5 oz denim breaks in quickly and feels great. I own this cut in black selvedge as well and absolutely love it. Bravo Tony & Pete.
Great US denim pants. Thanks TELLASON.
Only time will tell but my first week has been great. Great fit. In particular the mid rise is a big improvement over the fit of my current jeans. I'll see how the next twelve months go and get back to you!
Being from the Bay Area, I had to have a of Telleson’s. Got me the Elgin’s for my first one. Denim is really comfortable from the first wear and it only gets better. The fit is everything and this one works for me. Just get yours already.
Only ever owned Tellason jeans! Great quality, great fit, awesome customer service.
I originally bought the Ankaras but they were a little too relaxed for me. These fit just right. I'm 6'3" and 215 lb. the 35s fit just right.
5’11” 165 size 32 Elgin’s were the perfect fit. For the heavyweight one would expect them to not be all that comfy, but they were. These jeans are gonna get better and better. I would love a pair of these is multiple dyes. Also maybe a heavy weight canvas as well. The cut is perfect.
