Our New 60/40 Coach's Jackets

As the crow flies it is about twelve miles from our studio in Sausalito to Berkeley, California. Across San Francisco Bay, in 1965, Bob Swanson and George Marks founded the outdoor products company Sierra Designs. The company developed the 60/40 Mountain Parka, the most iconic of outdoor jackets.

A great history of the 60/40 Parka is here, written by George Marks. The 60/40 fabric was the first "technical" outdoor fabric and the parka itself has seen many iterations over the years.

Any friend of Pete's knows he is Mr. Softball. When we found a beautiful 60/40 fabric in Japan, making a Coach Jacket was a no-brainer. Available in navy blue and forest green 60% cotton 40% nylon fabric (we originally sampled royal blue, but it was too close to Dodger blue) with jersey lining and matching snaps, it is now available on our website. Made in California, USA.
