"Straight leg" is a term that is easily understood when it comes to jeans fit descriptions. Our Ankara straight leg is a "true" straight leg -- from the thigh to bottom opening is a straight line. It is a mid-rise jean with some room throughout but by no means "dad jean".
Why is this fit named "Ankara"? Because this guy was born there!
Made with beautiful red line black/black 13.5 oz selvedge denim from Japan in San Francisco, California -- The Home of Blue Jeans.
It’s not like me to excited about leg coverings. We all wear them. It’s also not like me to invest in pants—jeans, in this case. I tend to beat the shit out of things, so if they last a while I get attached. That sounds like my problem. It is. I am supposed to be reviewing a product here. It’s probably obvious I’m not used to this, but I bought a pair of jeans, and as the newscaster says in Airplane, “they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let ‘em crash.” And so the jeans: Black Japanese Selvedge Ankaras. I’m not getting any younger, so I thought to myself, let’s do this—a nice pair of jeans. Maybe there’s no turning back from here. That’s what I was thinking. Turns out it’s true. To be honest, we’re pretty early in the relationship here—and the cynic in me is usually with the newscaster—but even if we crash now, I can say that there’s as much love for these pants as I’ve got space in my life to love a pair of jeans. There’s another pair in my future, I’m sure, but for now, I’ve got to get to know these as well as I can. You’ve got to love beautiful work, no matter the object. And as an object maker, my hat’s off to Tellason. I’m quite happy I’ve run into you.
1st off thanks to Tony for always emailing back quickly so I can find my size . Glad I can still find a solid USA co. These jeans are perfect for humans that aren’t into skinny jeans . I like they have been making the same jeans for years . To many companies keep changing sizing & manufacturing. These two made something and stuck to it . These jeans are a nice higher rise like Jeans should be . No weird taper . Thanks guys .
Love my Ankara black jeans. Very fast delivery and courteous exchange for size. Impressed by personal attention by Mr Patella himself. Pretty good fit for a woman in men’s. 35” fits in the hips. The legs are wide, maybe will try the slim Elgins next. Love the obvious quality and sturdiness. Can’t wait to buy more from this company.
I wanted some good quality black salvedge jeans and these are great. They fit well, are a nice solid and heavy fabric. Build quality is fantastic and the hem specified worked out perfect! They’re not super stiff and didn’t need much break in. The color is a deep, rich black And the weave is clean and tight. Really high quality materials and craftsmanship; made in the USA! I like this company-they’re clearly passionate about what they do without taking themselves too seriously. Love these pants and will be careful washing to keep from fading. I’m curious what they’ll look like once they get some miles on them. Telleson is one of two denim companies that I’ll always return to. The other being hardenco; can’t go wrong with either.
These are thick good jeans, but the color seems to be fading much quicker from parts compared to other black jeans I have from Gustin and Nudie. Maybe consider dark blue or double black cross yarn to make the fading less noticeable? I don't wear them that often either and have only washed them by hand once. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pure black high quality jeans! Perfect fit for me, I tried the Blubaugh first and they were a little too snug. These fit my legs great, I have a 32inch waist with muscular athletic legs and the Ankara's are the perfect cut for athletic builds that don't want them tight. As for the customer service, Tony was great. I sent 2 pairs back in for hemming and they turned them around in one day and also my refund for the first set of jeans i ordered was credited promptly. Very easy online transaction!
Great fit. The waist is a little high but I never tuck in my shirt . Tellason are the only jeans I have found that fit me right. At 6ft 4in 250lbs it can be very challenging to find jeans that I like.
I don't wear selvedge denim. At least, I didn't prior to these. I'm a Levi's 550/Dickies type dude. However, the quality of selvedge denim had always appealed to me. I just couldn't find any that had the right fit. I don't want my jeans painted on, and I don't want 'em tapered ltighter at the ankle than a pair of sweatpants. No disrespect to anyone who prefers such fits, just not my get-down. When I discovered Tellason, I wrote to them explaining that I'm a guy who doesn't know the difference between Sanford & Sons and Un-Sanford & Sons, and that based on my fit preference, they could switch my order from a 38 to a 40 as they saw fit. Pete responded quickly, and was kind enough to send a pair in each size, asking only that I return whichever one didn't fit (Customer service on point - take notes, any other brands trolling). The 38's fit true to size, the quality and construction is top notch, and I'm back, buying the straight leg stock denim this time just prior to writing this. There's one word that sums up my experience with Tellason as a whole: Quality. Treatchoself.
