Sometimes, the road is uphill. Sometimes downhill. Our Elgin jean was downhill as far as complications go - just short of speed wobbles really. We had been selling our Ladbroke Grove lower rise slim tapered jean for a few years and there were enough of you out there who spoke up to let us know that the jean was good, but could be better for them if it had a mid rise.
We had a 5 minute meeting with our pattern maker, Pam, and just said, "Pam, please take our LG fit, add about 1.5 inches to the rise and send the pattern to the factory so we can make a sample." I remember trying the first prototype on and Tony and I agreed that it was exactly what we needed. No second prototype necessary. Let's get to production.
Stay safe out there and bloody Hell, wear a helmet when you bomb that hill.
These are my new favorite jeans. The fabric is reminiscent of the way shrink-to-fit Levis used to feel, but these only shrunk a tiny bit. Solid, stiff cotton that breaks in nicely to the body. They went from a bit baggy pre-wash to perfect post wash (air dry). I'm a 5'6" female, slender build, 118 lbs and the 30 fits great (not tight). I like the rise, it's comfortably high in the back and the front is right at my belly button. Perfect!
My wife doesn't know if yet, but she is now in a thruple with me and these jeans.
Great Everyday pant. The taper is perfect for sneakers and boots. The 12.5 oz. isn’t too heavy in the warmer weather as well.
The only thing as good as these jeans is Tellasons customer service. Being new to raw denim, I didn't know where to start for the right fit. After a phone call from Pete, and trying on a couple of different fits, the Elgin was my pick. They're the perfect cut slim jean. Not too tight, not too loose. The slightly higher rise makes a huge difference if you're an active dude. As far as the weight, I'm also really pleased. Even though the 12.5 oz. is their lightest, it's still sturdy as hell and should be great for year round wear. A nice surprise was also that this particular weight has had zero bleeding onto anything whatsoever. Easy to wear right out of the box. If I ever manage to wear these out (seems unlikely) I'll definitely be back for some more.
I thoroughly enjoy the jeans, the quality of the denim they are made of and the craftsmanship in the jeans. I have been complimented about them and asked where they are available and have given them the e-mail address. I now have three pairs of these jeans, two of the Elgin and one of the straight leg Ankara.
