The Tellason Stock Jean Jacket is made in San Francisco, California from 14 oz. non-selvedge sanforized Cone Mills denim. Two exterior side pockets, two chest pockets and two interior pockets.
A note from Pete & Tony...
Of course, we will always be true to our selvedge story. The whole tale speaks of what we love about real denim culture and the details that make this an important part of the denim landscape around the world. We are equally proud of our products built with non-selvedge denim from Cone Mills.
Back when Cone Mills was open in Greensboro, North Carolina, we felt a very strong urge to give them as much business as possible, sensing that more denim makers were taking their denim purchases overseas to save a few dollars. This never entered our orbit. In fact, we were talking about building jeans and jackets the same way, at the same place (San Francisco) as our regular selvedge products, but using a non-selvedge fabric, which takes the price waaay down.
Once we committed to our Tellason Stock project, we met with our friends at House Industries to figure out the branding part of things. We sent over some old pants we found at a police officer supply warehouse that had interior labels that were very simple and utilitarian minded. About a day later, the wizards at House Industries showed us their interpretation of a scaled down, industrial oriented branding story and that was it.
Have wanted a high quality type 3 jacket for a while, and this one perfectly fit the bill. Cone Denim, well made, high quality at a good price.
This jacket fits great. I'm 155 lbs, 5'7" and wear a 31w 30L pant. My suit size is around 38 or 40 depending on cut and function.
I really like this jacket. The weight is perfect. The stitching is flawless. I like that are no flashy engraving or embroidery on this. It's a great value, coming in as more expensive than Levi's, but with a much higher quality control.
I've owned a Gustin, Rogue Territory, and Levi's jackets. This is the best value for sure. The fit is perfect for me. It's not loose, but also not too tight. I'm basically wearing it as a long-sleeve shirt. I can't wait to see how it turns out after 6 months of wear. If I had the money, I would have purchased both this jacket and the selvedge to see if there are any major differences over time. Either way, I'm very happy with this purchase.
Nice job, guys...
I bought this on sale because I've been wanting a raw denim jacket for a while, and I am very impressed! Construction and fit are top notch. Even though it's not selvedge, I don't see any real difference in quality.
Outstanding quality product, really nice people to do business with. Not the lowest price but well worth the money. I will do business again. Thank you!
Quality jacket at a great price, customer service and communication superb, my first purchase from Tellason, will definitely be buying more of their products. Proof that USA based clothing manufacturing can and does work.
What a beautiful jacket. Heavy ass raw denim and a nice cut. I'm 5'11'' weigh 185 or so and and am usually a medium to a large depending on the brand. The large in this jacket fits nicely and has some room for layers. I asked a fit question before buying and one of the owners promptly and courteously reponded with a reccomendation. They shipped quickly and sent a signed note with the jacket which I thought was a nice touch.
Love this jacket. Fit/sleeve length is perfect. I’ve never been able to find a jacket that fits this well right off the rack. Amazing quality. Looks sharp. Can’t wait to where this on the bike. Thanks guys!
The jacket fits and looks great. Could not be happier with it. Well made with obvious attention to detail.
180#; 6'0" = L. Default jacket is 42. going M in tshirts which is usually 38-40 is often too tight. M-L is what I usually want. Shirt is often: 35 sleeve, 16/16.5 neck. This jacket is *perfect* size to the body w/o being grippy. This jacket works well over light to medium long-sleeved garment w/o being too baggy over just a tshirt. Great sleeve length and neck over a shirt/ light sweater. The length pre-wash from delivery is excellent. I will machine wash eventually but won't machine dry. General fit and reference with Tellason is around Ankara which is 90% great. (Wish: uppermost thigh on Ankara could be larger diameter. LOVE a Detroit Denim Hockey 33W for reference on this particular dimension.)
Details of buttons w/ copper, side pockets, and gussets buttons are excellent. Each of these features is somehow a +$feature on other brands. I see no need or real display platform for a selvedge version of this. (FYI, I have 4 other denim jackets - for ref not brag and see no reason for anything but this style/cut/config.)
What would I add? (Side pockets are already there!!) I would LOVE this cut/level in a heavy fabric. This is 14oz. A 16.5oz as is available in jeans would be excellent. Again: no need (for me) at all in a selvedge version of the Tellason STOCK version of the jacket.
