A note from Tony & Pete

Like any small company, we started with one fit, then two, then three.  For a few years now, we have had a full deck with seven fits- most of them derivatives of something we had already made.  The Elgin is of our slim tapered Ladbroke Grove fit throughout the leg but we lengthened the rise about 1.5 inches.  If you have worn our Ladbroke Grove, this will feel exactly the same but will sit a bit higher at the waist.

We would love to claim all the design inspiration for everything we make but the Elgin was most definitely put into motion by the extremely stylish, Mr. Steve Kang, owner of BlackBlue in St. Paul, Minnesota.  He had been selling our jeans for a while but leaned on us to take our best seller, the Ladbroke Grove, and give it a higher rise.  It was an easy pattern adjustment and our first prototype came out just as we wanted it to be.  If you have any concerns about the old ass crack getting loose, this may be the fit for you.  For me, mid-rise fits are the way to go.  Just wear them a bit low, creating some sag but not too low to show the world your bun hugger de jour.

The name- "The Elgin" was a local bar in Ladbroke Grove (London) where the lads of The Clash used to order an adult beverage or two.  It is still there but it certainly looks 10 X more posh than what was happening in 1977.

    Perfect

I’ve had many pairs of selvedge jeans from many different makers, including Tellason and these are my favorite. The cut is perfect. Not too slim but just enough to fit super well. The 16.5 oz denim is super comfortable and breaks in quickly. If I only owned one pair of jeans, it would be these.

    An Excellent Pair of Jeans

Posted by Rhys B. on 1st Jun 2017

Admired this brand from afar for a long time and finally grabbed a pair for myself. Could not be happier. Fit, construction, fabric -- everything -- on these jeans is excellent. The denim is obviously sturdy, but surprisingly easy to wear, even straight out of the packaging. The quality of these jeans cannot be overstated. A little more on the Elgin fit: the higher rise on these things sets them apart from the pack. Not enough brands make a tapered jean with a higher rise. I wear these jeans to my restaurant job and it's such a relief to bend/squat down and not have my shirt come untucked. Seems like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference. I know this sounds like an advertisement and I promise it is not. I just love these jeans. Seriously. Love them.

    Nice heavy everyday jean

Love these jeans! Taper is perfect, fit is perfect(and I'm not a real skinny guy) and the construction is perfect. You can tell these guys know what they're doing when it comes to denim.

    Super Denim

Posted by John on 12th Apr 2016

I have owned/do own a number of pairs of high end vintage denim and these are the BEST. Best fit, construction, taper, material, you name it. Do not hesitate to take the plunge if you are considering buying these. One can pay much more and not buy as satisfying a denim.

    The jean of champions

Wow! 1st day wearing these. I don't suppose there is a more forgiving 16.5oz raw denim out there in this price range. I'm super impressed at how comfortable the inside of the denim is despite how rigid the fabric is! I'm 5'11" 245lbs. and like to have more room in the rise. You can imagine how tough it must be to find good jeans in this world of "nutcrushing, skinny thigh" low rise denim. The shape of the Elgin fit is perfect for me! It's better than the Wrangler blue bell "Eddy" fit that was my favorite fitting jean in my closet, until today! The communication, hemming, and finished product are first class! Hopefully there will be more fabrics for the Elgin fit in the future. Maybe "Black/Black" or Duck canvas etc.
