I will not forget landing in Padang, Sumatra, 20 years ago.
My friends and I were there to surf the Mentawai Island archipelago for a couple of weeks and we were lucky to walk off that plane. As we approached the runway, the only thing that seemed odd was our airspeed, as it appeared that we were 10 feet off the ground and still traveling about 300 mph. Our pal, Eric Sorensen, was sitting at the window seat next to me and perfectly stated, "coming in hot". The pilot landed the plane with very little runway to spare and I bet that aircraft went straight to the hangar for a fresh set of brakes.
This was the beginning of a great trip and I won’t forget Eric's color commentary anytime soon. Why bring this up? No other reason than being thankful I was not wearing this particular fit of jeans if things didn't go well on that landing.
These Gustave jeans are 100% awesome and are also the slimmest that we make (which would have hindered my spritely exit if we had run out of runway). These 16.5 oz. selvedge jeans have a lower rise and tapered leg that will easily show off your shoes of the day.
