Todd Blubaugh has been a close friend of ours for 11 years.  He lives an extraordinary life and has a clear vision about the gear that helps him during his travels.  We let Todd create this new jean from top to bottom.  Our sanforized 16.5 oz.proprietary Kaihara denim is our toughest so it was an automatic choice for us to use for The Blubaugh jean.  It has a mid-rise slim straight fit. Cut and sewn in San Francisco, Calif. USA.  Check out Todd's book.

A note from Tony & Pete

Occasionally, you meet the following types of people:

Butcher
Baker
Candlestick Maker
Jerk
Stunt Flyer
Shepherd
Swindler
Nomad

Our friend Todd Blubaugh checks a few of these boxes. The friendship began with Tony flying up to Seattle (year two for us) to do a promotion at Blackbird (RIP). They were one of the first five shops we sold to when we started. Tony ran a contest and was going to give a free pair for the person who brought in their most hammered pair of Tellason jeans. Todd arrived early and the contest was over. His pair was still one of the best old jeans we have seen. From there, our friendship grew.

Christmas 2014, Todd was passing through on his bike. We were neck deep in turkey etc... and an hour later, we hear the thump of his motor working its way up the hill. Once inside, Todd took over one of the four burners at the stove to melt down some bees wax to re-wax his jacket for the next day's wet ride north. Now, remember this is Christmas dinner here and burners are a hot commodity. My wife somehow reworked the timing of the whole dinner since that bees wax took about an hour to melt down. My youngest was fascinated with Todd's old world efforts and dinner came out just fine...

Back to jeans- we were ready for a new fit so we passed Todd the baton and gave him 100% freedom to create a jean based on exactly what his life on a bike is all about. The mid-rise keeps the draft down the bunz in check and the slightly slimmer straight leg is neither tight nor loose which allows for a little mobility without the leg panels flapping in the wind at +60 m.p.h. The leg opening derived from what Todd believes to be the perfect circumference around his Red Wing Engineer boot.

This is only available in our 16.5 oz orange line selvedge to keep things on the heavy side for Todd's rigorous life.

    Blubaugh Jeans

Posted by Jess Ellis on 15th Dec 2022

My first order from Tellason was the Blubaugh Indigo Jean. I ride a motorcycle and have read Todd Blubaugh's book "To Far Gone" so I am a fan. Todd did a fantastic job designing these jeans. I was hesitant to purchase at first due to price but decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed. Right out of the box I knew they were not your ordinary jean by way they felt in my hand. The quality is everywhere. I ordered a 34 waist like all my other jeans. I should have measured the top of my other jeans first as recommended which showed I needed a 35. The exchange was fast and easy at no cost. The 35 fit perfect. A tad lose in the waist, which I like, but snug in the thighs and perfect for riding. Fit great over boots. I also ordered a medium belt but had to send back for a large. I am a convert and plan to get the black pair of the Blubaugh Jean at some point.

Bought These Because Of The Funny Video Clip

Posted by Nix on 4th Nov 2022

As a Bay Area native, when I stumbled on Tellason it was a no brainer to support a locally owned, California made clothing brand. After watching the funny ass video clip I had to buy a pair of these jeans! Hella funny little video clip on there website! I'm impressed with the quality of the jeans. The guys even wrote me a hand written tank you card that made me happy I pulled the trigger. I have an athletic build and have a hard time finding jeans that don't look like my ass is busting out the top. These have a classic fit in the seat, kinda Ben Davis-ish, with a material that will take on nice fades and character you'd expect from a quality denim. Love the mid rise, and straight leg diameter. A quality denim, and cool back story on these Bay cats putting out dope jeans. I bought these sight unseen and wasn't let down. Got to get the length hemmed, but that's expected. Treat yourself to a pair and help support these dudes. Yay AREA!

    Best fitting pants

Posted by Seth Braden on 8th Oct 2022

Theses pants you can tell were made to fit well! I’ve worn several types of raw denim and you can tell which companies focus heavily on fit and function. The other plus? NO BUTT CRACK POPPING OUT!

I love these jeans(is that crazy? Who cares?)

Posted by Kevin Mitchell on 27th Sep 2022

I'm a strange sized man. I'm 6'4" and I weigh about 215lbs. I normally have to choose between 34" and 36" waist. I own a pair of Tellason Ankara Straight legs in size 35". Perfect right? Yes, they are just about perfect. As I have worn and broken them in the jeans have loosened up a bit. That's cool. They are straight kinda loose fitting jeans. That's how I wanted them to fit. When I ordered the Blubaugh I decided to order the 34" waist. I wanted them to fit a bit more snug than my Ankara. I figured they will loosen up perfectly with wear. I don't want to put them in the washing machine either. Anyway, when I first put on the 34" Blubaugh I kinda panicked. They were tight. I took a deep breath and remembered how thick the denim is and how they need to break in. I wore them for a few hours and could already feel them breaking in and fitting better. They are no where near broken all the way in regardless I think these will be a perfect size for me . I'm very happy with the cut. They are slim but not skinny. They work well with my long legs. They fit over shoes and boots nicely. They are beautifully made as always. I love them. It is so nice to own a real piece of clothing instead of buying more mass produced, and often unethically, made garments. I'm starting to understand it all. I want to own fewer clothing items that are better made. Tellason nails everything. Thank you very much.

BLUBAUGH- MID RISE SLIM STRAIGHT SELVEDGE JEANS- 16.5 OZ.

Posted by Jeremy on 15th Mar 2022

Beautiful jeans! They are perfectly crated. Customer service was first class. I unfortunately purchased the incorrect size and had to reluctantly return. My first time purchasing clothing of this caliber and as I’ve found out sizing is not the same as mass produced off the shelf items. Tony was amazing to communicate with. Will be buying again. Jeans were a work of art.

The Blubaugh- Mid Rise Slim Straight

Posted by Bruce on 3rd Jan 2022

Great heavy weight jeans. These are a really well made, heavyweight, mid-rise jean. They really do stretch out in the waist and seat every time you wear them. My pair shrank about an inch plus in the length. Customer service is great. I'm a true 35-36 waist and the 36 worked well. Be prepared for some "break-in time" and you'll have a great pair of jeans in the end.

    Rock solid denims

Posted by Jeff drooger on 31st Dec 2021

My fourth purchase from Tellason and I am 100 percent happy with all. These Blubaugh jeans were my “upgrade” from a Tellason stock pair I got recently and they are amazing. Yeah, when you put them on the first time you may think your legs won’t be able to break these in!! But I can tell they are going to be amazing. They are pretty heavy denim. Not the heaviest but tough, dark and solid. Leg opening is perfect for all boots and not tight on the calves. The rise is a bit higher than “mid rise” I think. But feels good once you get em rollin. Ask Tellason guys a question. They answer most (all?) themselves. And try to find them on a podcast somewhere. Smart, likable guys that totally get their customer and their business. Thanks for being out there.
